Bruise Cruise is excited to announce that we are officially SOLD OUT! In less than four weeks, we will be whisking 400 people from Miami to the Bahamas and back again for an unforgettable, action packed, tropical, sun-soaked weekend.

Bruise Cruise Festival is a rock ’n’ roll music extravaganza aboard the Carnival Imagination, sailing from Miami to the Bahamas and back February 25-28, 2011. Bands on board include Black Lips, Surfer Blood, Vivian Girls, Thee Oh Sees, The Strange Boys, Ty Segall, Quintron and Miss Pussycat, Turbo Fruits, Jacuzzi Boys, and DJ Mr. Jonathan Toubin.

Between turns lounging around on deck, cruise attendees will be able to experience seven concerts, including events on board the ship in private party rooms, an island party at Señor Frogs in the Bahamas, and our Kick Off pre-party in Miami at Grand Central on Thursday, February 24^th. Our complete cruise event schedule is available for the first time ever on our website.

Other special events include a lecture with our Cruise Director, Mr. Ian Svenonius. He is known for his work with Chain and the Gang, The Make Up, Nation of Ulysses and hosting VBS.tv’s Soft Focus. Only select Cruise attendees will be allowed to enjoy his lecture. There might be a lottery system to determine the lucky winners. One thing is certain: Svenonius promises it will be scintillating.

After Turbo Fruits, Strange Boys, Vivian Girls and Black Lips rock out at the Island Party. Afterwards New York Night Train’s Soul Clap and Dance-Off will take the stage. The Soul Clap has reigned as North America’s most popular soul dance party, and features DJ Mr. Jonathan Toubin. The concept is simple: All night dancing to wild 7-inches and a $100 dance contest with 50 contestants judged by a panel of underground celebrities. Celebrity judges will feature Bruise Cruise attendees like John Norris (MTV / Noisevox), Gricelle Richmond (Señor Frogs), Alek Parker & Dylan Graves (Pro-Surfers hailing from Tampa and Isabela, PR, respectively), Benjamin Blackwell (Dirtbombs), Emilia Costa (Spin ), with more to be announced soon. This will be the first-ever Soul Clap in the Bahamas.

Miss Pussycat hosts a Puppetland breakfast! Participants will enjoy buttery stacks of pancakes while they watch a new live puppet show, as well as the latest episode of the Trixie and the Treetrunks video series entitled “Spirit Hair.” The show will be followed by a question-and-answer period, including an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the modern puppet hideout. It’s the perfect remedy for a hangover.

Bruise Cruise is happy to announce that Bruise Cruise Records has released four limited edition 7” vinyls in conjunction with the cruise and featuring artists from the festival. Rob Corradetti (radrox.com) is the designer behind the artwork pictured below.

Now several weeks deep into the winter, we begin to fantasize about the days ahead when we can shed layers and boots and bare some skin. We are happy to announce a Bruise Cruise-inspired swimwear line. This chic beach attire will debut during Williamsburg Fashion Week in Brooklyn, NY.

The show will feature work by Brooklyn designer Alexander Campaz. His work is a combination of casual/formal attire and athletic street wear. For his Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, he is taking inspiration from the daydream of a cruise getaway and escaping the bitter winter of New York City for warmer shores. “IS IT THE SEA MIXED WITH THE SUN” will premiere on February 19^th at Glasslands in Brooklyn at 11:15 PM as part of Williamsburg Fashion Week. The presentation for the collection will be based on the legendary Soul Clap and Dance-Off parties of Jonathan Toubin.

A cruise would not be complete without an entertaining host, and we are pleased to announce that Ian Svenonius will be coming on board as our charismatic cruise director.  Ian is the leader of the group Chain & the Gang, the host of vbs.tv’s “Soft Focus” and the author of the Psychic Soviet.  He is also an accomplished master of ceremonies. Previous projects include the Nation of Ulysses (a political party/ street gang),  The Cupid Car Club (a social entity designed for recreation and relaxation), the Make Up (a religious cult), Scene Creamers/Weird War (a rock n roll group) and Felt Letters (a beat poetry combo). He has toured across the world with these esteemed aggregates and is famed for his dynamic stage persona.  We are thrilled to have him on board.

Bruise Cruise is also excited to debut our latest video promo featuring Nashville TN’s TURBO FRUITS.  The band features Jonas Stein, one of the organizers of the Bruise Cruise. The Bahamas island party line-up announced!  After Bruisers have explored Nassau by swimming with dolphins and discovering the local fish fry, they can head over to the stage at Señor Frog’s to catch the rock’n’roll antics of The Black Lips, Vivian Girls, The Strange Boys & Turbo Fruits.  All four bands will be performing at our island party. There will be about eight concerts total and those other locations and line-ups will be announced soon.

An intermission will be taken in the midst of the show to make way for the most indie rock conga line ever.  This will be followed by New York Night Train’s Soul Clap and Dance Off featuring Dj Mr. Jonathan Toubin spinning all 45s. Festival organizers Michelle Cable & Jonas Stein have just returned from their “tester cruise” and have much to report. Upon arrival, attendees will be greeted with a bottle of wine in their private cabin and creative towel animals will be waiting for “Bruisers” when they return to their rooms each night. Relax in one of the numerous hot tubs on deck as the sun sets behind you.  Dine with your friends and new cruise acquaintances while enjoying another complimentary bottle of wine at one of your dinners.  Still hungry? Room service is free and available 24 hours a day: Turkey, Roast-Beef, BLT sandwiches, you name it.  Pack your finest threads and don them in the decadent dining halls or crowd around the blackjack tables and try your hand at Texas Holdem. Exhausted with sunbathing on the ship?
